| The development of Mini-Soccer as an introduction to football for young people began in 1993 with the promotion of Mini-Soccer Centres. Mini-Soccer provides a fun introduction to the football on appropriate playing areas and with modified rules. The opportunity was available at over 1,000 centres across the country for children to turn up and play, not in structured teams, leagues and competitions, but for fun.
The initiative now represents a priority for The Football Association as a whole. The prospect of an infrastructure from under 7's to under 10's with young boys and girls playing Mini-Soccer, backed by the overwhelming support of youth and schools football, enhanced by the FA Charter Standard is a very exciting prospect not only for young players, but all involved in children's football. The Working Party is committed to the development of Mini-Soccer and is playing a major role in its implementation. SchoolsThe West Midlands Metropolitan County Schools' FA and the Warwickshire County School's FA agree and support the concept of Mini-Soccer. There are 1008 Primary Schools within Warwickshire and the seven Metropolitan Boroughs in the West Midlands. The aims within the West Midlands and Warwickshire County Associations and their affiliated schools' FA's are:
