Birmingham FA 3-2 Tamworth FC U18 Birmingham completed their warm up campaign with another victory. Numerous substitutions throughout the game giving all the players the opportunity to gain selection in the final twenty two players which Birmingham will take to Leicester University on Sunday 7th September for the Midland Youth Tournament. Birmingham took the lead after 29 minutes. David Blenkinsopp's first touch gave him space to control Tom Kendall's long kick and despite tumbling he regained his composure and crashed the ball home. Blenks hit his second four minutes later when he flicked home a cross from Luke Woates. Tamworth reduced the deficit after Luke Pritchard was penalized in the box and Steve Harper converted from the spot at the second attempt as the referee adjudged that Kendall had moved. With the team constantly changing, some of Birmingham's play was fragmented, however Josh Tolley's right wing corner was powerfully headed home by skipper Adam Hughes. Eugene Dixon brought the scores close with a lob over Kendall after indecision in the home defence, but Tamworth ran out of time to draw level - despite their strong finish.
