The surrounding countryside is dramatic and the panoramic view from the conservatory is ever changing. Excellent and varied walking can be found locally. The village boasts a Saxon church and a fortified manor or castle and has a strong sense of community. A good range of shops can be found in both Alnwick and Rothbury with home bakeries and other local produce readily available. There are excellent restaurants and pubs in the area.
On the way to Rothbury is Cragside, a magnificent Victorian house situated in 900 acre grounds famous for their colourful rhododendron, lakeside walks and formal gardens. In the market town of Alnwick stands Alnwick Castle, the home of the Dukes of Northumberland, notable for its magnificent setting and numerous works of art. The Heritage coast with its clean and sandy beaches is 30 minutes by car and between Warkworth and Berwick on Tweed provides an area unique for its scenic beauty, coastal wildlife and historical significance. Newcastle and the Metro Centre at Gateshead provide for shopaholics and Hadrians Wall is within easy reach.
The cottage is very well appointed and benefits from double-glazing and central heating. A multi-fuel stove burns logs to make it cosy all year round. It is a family holiday cottage, so is furnished with many extras to make your stay particularly comfortable.
Three double bedrooms and a bathroom boasting
an electric shower and large corner bath - ideal for soaking those walking
aches away!!
