Our squadron is based at RAF Leuchars, just a few miles to the north of St Andrews, which is very convenient for St A's students but less so for Aberdeen and Dundee students. However, regular buses are provided, and train fares or petrol are refunded.

We share the airfield with 43, 111 and 56(R) squadrons. Between them they fly a total of 44 Tornado F3s, which are used as the primary RAF defence fighter. 56(R) squadron is the Operational Conversion Unit (OCU), and both 43 and 111 squadrons contribute Quick Reaction Aircraft (QRA) responsibility. The 3 Flt Army Air Corps operates the Aerospatiale Gazelle. Also based at Leuchars are the Mountain Rescue Team and the Surgical Unit.
