Whats New / Change History

Work has been continuing to convert all copies of the Bulletin of the OFSSC and the Transvaal Philatelist to electronic format. This is extremely time consuming and has meant that I have had little time to update the web site. As of today, issues 1-183 of the Bullletin are available as PDF files. Roughly 20% have been converted to searchable/editable text; the remainder are still in image form. Volumes 1-11 of the Transvaal Philatelist are available, as are most issues > #98. At this point, early issues are mostly in image format, the later ones as text.

The Transvaal Study Circle now has its own domain (www.transvaalsc.org), but for now this address just points to the Transvaal pages of this site.

OFS:

• Roughly 10% of the OFS Bulletin issues now converted to 'smart' text format. Time consuming, so progress is sloooow...
• Several additions to the OFS image catalogue of stamps - images added but text not yet complete.

OFS:

• All issues (vols 1-182) of the Bulletin of the OFS Study Circle are now available in softcopy format (PDF).

Transvaal:

• Added Transvaal Philatelist volumes 135, 104
• Added list of 'target' numeral cancellers to the Transvaal main page.

OFS:

• Minor modifications to the OFS index page.

OFS:

• Added new scans to the image catalogue - 1896 double overprint, an OFS airmail cover (think about it!), and new 'miscellaneous' section to the catalogue to hold things of interest that do not have a home elsewhere.

Transvaal:

• Added a new 'miscellaneous' section.
• Updates to main page - getting ready to add scanned images etc.

Stellaland:

• Added a scan of a nice copy of the £5 revenue stamp that I acquired recently.

CoGH:

Misc:

• Zero progress in May, mainly due to the need to do some work with 'real' stamps prior to the meetings associated with Stamp 2000 here in London, plus increasing work commitments. Sigh. I did however manage to obtain some nice material at the show as well as a copy of Bertram Poole's (rare) 1901 book on the Boer War overprints, which will be added to the book material in due course.

OFS:

OFS:

• Finished adding the Hisey updates for chapters 6-10, 12-16 of Volume 1 of the Handbook. Vol. 1 is now complete bar chapter 11 (the copy of the file containing the updates for this chapter that I have is corrupt, so I need to obtain a 'good' version before I can proceed).

OFS:

• Finished adding the Hisey updates for chapters 2-5 of Volume 1 of the Handbook.

Transvaal:

• Commenced adding issue 133 (Feb. 2000) of The Transvaal Philatelist.

OFS:

• Started adding Part 3 of Buckley and Marriott - completed Preface, Bibliography and ancilliary text, Chapter 1 and parts of Chapter 2. The whole of the volume has been scanned in ready for processing.
• Started adding the Hisey corrections and updates to volume 1 of Buckley and Marriott. Corrections have been made and new material inserted (these are all in blue to differentiate them from the original text).

OFS:

• Created a new section in the image catalogue for forgeries. Moved text and images from various places and consolidated it in the new section. Added new images and text.
• Added sections to the catalogue for revenues, telegraph stamps, and postal stationery.
• Added assorted new images and text to sections on the 1877 provisional.
• Added new sections for the 1890, 1892 and 1897 provisionals and the 1897 definitives.

Transvaal:

• Changed e-mail address for Gawie v/d Walt

Transvaal:

• Completed issue 103 of The Transvaal Philatelist. Commenced issue 120.

Added new scans to the OFS image catalogue, plus a couple of odds and ends.

OFS:

• updates to the main index page for the image catalogue - new sections added
• scans of two covers bearing copies of the 1896 'peuny' overprint error added to the 1896 ½d on 3d provisional page. Added some more stamp scans to the same page, while messing around with it.
• scan of a registered postcard added to the postal stationery section.

Other:
