High Street, Godalming, 1930s

Godalming's High Street has changed only a little since this picture was taken. The Angel Hotel on left has been replaced by Angel Court but many buildings remain the same although there may be more modern shop fronts at ground floor level.

Eastmans Limited was a butcher's shop at what was 69 High Street[1] and was run by Eastmans as early as 1913. The large timber-framed building next to it, with the top floor protruding over the street, is what was the White Hart Inn. The two storey entrance way into White Hart Yard is at the far end of the building.

The photograph was taken from beside the Pepperpot which is at the junction with Church Street.
