The view from the Heights of Jacob, looking down on the River Derwent
and North Parade, has been a popular subject for postcards. It
is of Matlock Bath in the early summer, judging by the freshness
of the greenery. This shot was taken from lower down the hillside
than the one taken in 1911 (see menu bar). The photographer was
standing just above the bottom of Orchard Road, and behind the
Temple Hotel. The Temple is the white building, bottom right.
Waterloo Road, with Belle Vue House and Wellington House, winds
up the hillside centre left until it meets the top of Holme Road
beside the Round House. |
No publisher's name is provided but the card was posted on 3 Aug 1908
at Matlock Bath and sent to Miss Perry who was staying at Rhydymnoyn,
near Mold.
