The Boat House Hotel has been on Dale Road, at the north entrance
to Matlock Dale, for over two centuries[1].
It is pictured here just over a hundred years ago, when the quarry
behind it was not as extensive as it is today. There is a large
signboard on the side of the building, advertising "Hardy's
Ale & Stout,
Starbright, Sold in bottle". In 1908 John Robinson[2] was
at the Boat House hotel and a few years later Albert Holling[3] was
the licensee.
