Definition of Walk levels (taken from Ramblers Association)

Walk and talk: easy walks taken at a slow pace.

Flat or gentle gradients: self-explanatory.

Moderate: may involve steep ascents and descents, but not prolonged.

Strenuous: experience of hill walking desirable. Will involve steep ascents and descents; mileages shown should not be taken as an indication of effort.

Notice about walks

Walks may be modified at the leader's discretion. On short walks, please bring a snack and a drink. On longer walks, bring sufficient food and drinks for the day. All routes might be muddy and rough, so suitable footwear is needed. Waterproof clothing is essential and is best carried in a small rucksack.

There can be other "à la carte" walks for people with specific interests.

PROGRAMME: Here is our programme, knowing that the weekend can be extended for those who want to (which is recommended... :-)) )

Friday 11/06/04
Saturday 12/06/04
Sunday 13/06/04
Morning   Walks Walks
Afternoon (Walks?) Walks Walks
Evening Gather at the Dyffryn Castell (1) Pub dinner (2) in the Dyffryn Castell and entertainment (3) Panoramic barbecue (4)

(1) Whenever you arrive.
Dinner is not arranged, but meals for those who want will be served in the pub until 2115 (last order) as a special concession. Drinks at the bar.
There will be a demonstration of Welsh dances by members of a local club.

(2) Menu:
Cost will be £12.50 per person, eat as much (or as little!) as you like. Individual invoices will be provided (pay your own bill at the time).
Drinks extra, at the bar.
If, for dietary reasons, you are unable to select from the menu (follow the link above), let us know urgently.

(3) We will provide "local" entertainment.
A harpist will come and play Welsh and celtic songs.
A customary short narration, song or skit will probably go down well too.

(4) Menu:
The barbecue will be at our place. Out of doors (panoramic views), weather permitting, otherwise in an atmospheric stable setting. [We are still working on the menu and price is forecast at about £10 including drinks].

We shall be asking you for a small contribution towards the cost of the local entertainment (Welsh dancers and harpist): £1 per person for each of the events.

Disclaimer: we are organising this weekend voluntarily - we accept no liability of any kind in respect of any person participating and participants do so at their own risk and expense.
