BY ROAD
FROM THE A44 TRUNK ROAD
About 1 km / 0.5 mile West of the village of Ponterwyd, which is the first 'civilisation' after passing westwards through the Cambrian Mountains and about 24 km / 15 miles east of Aberystwyth, turn left onto a very minor road signposted Ystumtuen. Carry "straight" on along this road for approximately 2.7 km / 1.7 miles, passing through the village and ignoring any turnings to right or left. In so doing, you climb a very steep hill then drop down into the village, after which the road climbs again to a sharp right bend; here, the Rheidol Valley opens out in front of you and you catch your first glimpse of the sea. From this bend, we are just another 100 m / 100 yds - see the name on the gate.
On a fine day we recommend the more scenic route, just a bit longer, which is to take the second turning off the A44 to Ystumtuen, about a mile further along the main road (look for the aero-generators to your left). Then follow the instructions below. COMING FROM ABERYSTWYTH If you are coming from Aberystwyth direction, take the right turn signposted Ystumtuen just beyond the Visitor Centre and then turn left at the top of the hill, after going past the aero-generators. Follow the road to the T-junction (the village is just to the left) and turn right, up the rise to the sharp right bend, at which point the Rheidol Valley opens out in front of you. From this bend, we are just another 100 m / 100 yds - see the name on the gate.
TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
There are 5 trains a day to Aberystwyth, via Machynlleth, where you change from Birmingham or Manchester (or anywhere else). From the station, you have a choice of taxi, we pick you up (by arrangement), or you take the scenic route by the Rheidol Valley steam railway, in season, to Devil's Bridge and then ... call us. We can see Devil's Bridge, it is close, but there is a steep valley between us and so it is about 15 minutes' drive away. TRAVELLING BY AIR
Nearest airports are Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff, all of which are about 200 km / 125 miles away. Train (or coach) service to Aberystwyth. Any of the London airports will mean a train or coach journey, see above.
