Ar 92 Kingley Horse Engine SF081549 A horse engine (gears turned by horse walking in a circle tethered to a beam) in use at Kingley Farm until present century; of low level “portable” type where gearing and drive shaft lay at low level;nothing left.

A lost horse mill:- Victoria County History mentions horse engine in Studley used to drive needlemaking machinery c.1700; site not known.

E 142 Exhall Steam Mill SP 100548 Brickbuilt barn with tiled roof; iron shafts pass through wall; 3 storeys; contains 2 pairs of stones and complete cast-iron gearing; formerly had 3 sets of stones driven by external steam engine; engine vanished. Mill built by Bomford family late 19th cent; worked as trading mill 1892 -1900 (D);then reverted to grinding animal feed for farm;last worked 1920’s
H 151 Cider Mill and Press SP 126582 Horse drawn edge-runner stone and trough;used to crush apples for cider making;press near by for extracting juice from pulp;worked as recently as 1947.
St 268 Farm Mill, High House Farm SP 083667 A tube ignition oil engine (a kind of diesel) powered a farmer’s mill here;engine gone but shed which housed it still there.
St 269 Farm Mill, Breaches Farm SP 079667 Farmer’s mill powered by tube ignition oil engine which is no longer there.
