Commented upon in the Spring 1997 edition of Local past was a communication received from Miss Gloria Huish, an Australian visitor to Haselor, which contained a short report of the excitement generated within her family when she arrived home to tell of her experiences.
It was believed that we might hear more of this lady, whose interest in her English forebears, and indeed all things English, had driven her to visit our shores on a number of previous occasions. And so it has proved. She was with us as these words were being typed, on this occasion spending time in London searching national archives for yet more of her own recorded past.
Some of Miss Huish's time was spent seeing the seasonal sights in the Capital, flower gardens being a particular delight. We shall remember this summer for the rain that fell in June, disappointing many tennis and cricket enthusiasts, though thankfully replenishing our depleted reservoirs: our visitor will recall the successes of a sojourn in what became an unusually green midsummer.
Once again, our Society was able to help in a quest for details of past local people and events. We await the next instalment.
