The amalgamation of the Friendly Societies took place in 1891 and they were anxious to enlarge their work and take in the Children's Hospital and the Dental Hospital, Birmingham

In 1995 I reflected on the article. The songs I had never heard of and would be interested to know if anyone else knew them. The Children's Hospital in Birmingham still relies on money raised by people all over the country. My granddaughter was recently treated there
Before Easter the 'Happy Days Committee' put on a musical entertain-ment evening for the elderly residents of 'Meadow View' and their friends. This committee was formed to raise money to give the elderly a happy time - it was indeed a happy event. Later we talked about the plans for VE Day and various other local events Alcester people celebrated. Indeed it Is clear to me the Community Spirit of Alcester really does live on
