We have just
received a new, updated edition of the International Genealogical Index (I.G.I.) for
Warwickshire on microfische. This is very useful for people tracing their family history.
Some new
additions to the library include:
Edwards P. 'Rural Life -- Guide to Local Records' (Batsford) This is a thorough examination of the records available to local historians for researching village history.
Haynes L. 'The Buried Past in Family History' (Book Guild). A history of a family in Northfield but also the story of how Birmingham became a great manufacturing and trade centre.
Griffiths P. 'Sixty Glorious Years in Bidford-on-Avon' (Brewin Books) The author was born in Hockley Heath and moved to Bidford in 1930 and has lived there ever since.
(Editor) The
County Library Service -- and particularly Alcester Library shows a great interest in
local history and our society has much to be grateful for: our publications are sold there
and the Library Service takes only a modest cut: local history sections are kept
well-stocked and visitors with specific needs usually find something which helps. the
Society, for its part, is always pleased to co-operate with providing displays. The
co-operation is mutual and we are very grateful for it.
