Some new
additions to stock:-
'The Historic Towns of Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Herefordshire' This is written and published by John Burgess of Carlisle.' He has spent many years visiting the counties. Alcester is included.
'Some Rural Quakers' by Jack Wood (pub. William Sessions Ltd) is a history of over 300 years of Quakerism in Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.
Still on a religious theme, Mr.Bolitho (our County Library local history historian) has edited a silver jubilee miscellany of the West Midlands branch of the Wesley Historical Society.
'Dovecotes' (pub.by National Trust Severn Region) is not a new publication but a useful booklet giving a general background on Kinwarton, Snowshill, Hawford, Wichenford, Dorrnston and 'Hill Croome dovecotes.
The County Museum
has published a booklet 'The Elizabethan Malting Kiln' based on the kiln found in Gas
House Lane in Alcester in 1989.
Anyone interested
in the paintings of William Quatremain will like to know of the book by Patricia McFarland
'Mr. Quatremain's Stratford' an account of his life and times, with many examples of his
work.
