EDITORIAL
Welcome to our Spring Issue
which, with any luck, you will be reading with the sun streaming through
the window.
This is the time of year when
the village should start looking it's best so, with everyones co-operation
to keep our surroundings tidy, and with the appearance of all those daffodils
which were planted at Gillie Cozens' instigation last year, we should have
a village to be proud of.
Change certainly seem to be
in the air. Having lost our flower shop and the John Barleycorn,
our spies tell us that Conifers is up for sale !! May we take this
opportunity to wish Pam and David a quick sale and every success and happiness
for the future wherever they finally settle. They'll be missed.
On the other hand we seem to
be gaining on the housing front with the Catharine Hall Farm development,
the new houses in Brook Lane and the flats and bungalows in Silverdale
Close. Let's hope that we don't continue to expand and finish up
as a suburb of Cambridge !!!
Crime continues to show it's
ugly head and, although comparatively minor in our area, the item regarding
the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme should be taken seriously. Please
respond to Rosemary Darling's request. (Page )
You may recall that we have
referred to the possibility of introducing some black and white photographs
to provide added interest. We are now able to do this and would be
pleased if we could borrow any old scenes of Coton in past years which
would be of interest to our readers. How about our contributors including
some illustrations for their articles ? For example school activities
such as May Day, and school plays. Nature shots of birds and other
local wildlife could also be of interest. Black and white copies
of coloured prints can be included but may be tonally less accurate.
All will be handled with care and returned after copying.
May we wish you a very happy
Easter.
