Physik's  Lists

The fourth button on a Palm organiser usually launches the default memo pad which is a simple jotter program.  However, on mine it is set to launch a third party application called "List" which is a simple but effective database in which I store medical "aide-memoirs".  Now that I can carry & access these at anytime, I find them invaluable in clinical & academic settings - including revision for exams.  In the USA this would be called a "peripheral brain" - I call mine "Physik's Lists".

List is modelled on the Palm address book application - which means it is both intuitive and familiar to use.  It can be downloaded for free at Roo's Website which also gives full details on its use and some examples of List databases that people have created.  Physik's Lists is one of these.

Physik's Lists contains >1 000 files which are arranged in 13 categories.  It takes a single button press to switch the organiser on and launch the program - then 2 screen-taps to select the appropriate category - next you either scroll down to the file you want or enter the first letter(s) of the title to get there quicker - finally you tap on the file required to show its contents and scroll through them if necessary.  As well as being easy to access, this information is also fully editable and takes up only ~300 KB of memory. A free sample can be downloaded here which contains the lists from one category.

This animation shows Physik's Lists in action : each frame change = x1 button or screen press.

How do I interpret this blood-stained CSF ?

Impressed ?  Interested ?  Uncertain ?  Let me put it another way ...

What use is a text book if you can't always have it with you ?
What use is verbose writing when what you need are the key facts ?
Wish you could edit what it says in your chosen reference handbook ?
Embarrased by the state of your dog-eared "peripheral brain" ?
Is your white coat over-loaded with reference materials ?
Still using hand-written "flash cards" to revise for exams ?
Big reference works filling your precious Palm organiser's memory ?
Slow, unfamiliar interface on your existing Palm medical reference ?

What you need is ... Physik's Lists !

Physik's Lists is a medical reference containing >1 000 files which cover basic science, clinical features, eponymous syndromes, differential diagnoses, investigations & their interpretation, normal laboratory values, clinical guidelines, key published papers and includes a full list of all abbreviations used.  This information is easy to access, fully editable and takes up only  ~300 KB of memory.  Physik's Lists should be particularly useful in clinical settings and revision for exams.  It aims to complement rather than compete with more comprehensive texts and it can easily be tailored to an individual's own needs.

So far >2500 people have downloaded the freeware version.  To view this data a copy of List (freeware) must first be installed.  A sample of Physik's Lists can be obtained from here or the full version can be purchased for $15 from these sites :
