at V2001 - try sorting out the queues! having weekend tickets - gaining the
wrist band was a problem - as it was at V98! We queued for almost 2 hours and
when we got to the relevant tent discovered that people were just pushing in and
only 2 security staff to try and stop them - it was ridiculous and we ended up
missing 2 acts - one of which - Semisonic I really wanted to see. Also - I
bought a V2000 line-up card (the one that goes round the neck) silly me, I
expected it to be the correct running order and times! I am aware that line-ups
can change at the last minute - but try actually announcing it so we know. It's
purely by luck that I got to see Coldplay and, wanting to catch the last hour of
Moby, we ended up both missing the end of Richard Ashcroft and found we'd missed
Moby altogether. Other than that. Well done on the toilet front - a big
improvement to 2 years ago!

I would like to make a massive complaint about the treatment of Paul weller on
Sunday 21st at Chelmsford. I went to V2000 assuming that it was a music festival
not a money festival. Paul weller had over 5 minutes left on his allocated time
schedule and was about to play one last song with Noel Gallagher. The crowd, as
you can imagine were going wild with excitement and anticipation when some
pompus stage manager decided to pull the plug. Despite massive protests from the
crowd and Paul weller himself the stage manager refused to let them play saying
to the crowd "you wont be able to see the headline". Not only was Paul
Weller forced to finish 5 mins early but the stage was set up for Richard
Ashcroft in about 20 minutes giving around 15 minutes in total to spare. I find
it hard to beleive that you stopped Paul Weller short because of not having
enough time to set up for the next act. Was it in actual fact so that you had
enough time to play 35 minutes worth of crappy advertisments to the audience? It
was a real shame as it was a black mark against what had otherwise been a good
weekend and may make me think twice before going next year.

Leftfield. Partly because i love their music. They are legends and they hardly
ever play out live so to watch them is just mind blowingly brilliant.
Apart from ALL of leftfield, had to be Travis. Such a brilliant set that
everyone loved. Rounded off a hot sunny, beer filled day in such a style only
Travis seem to be able to supply. That down to earth, talented musical touch.

Travis were brilliant - talent. Great to to see Ocean Colour scene -
respect. Paul Weller - great, but ran on into Richard Ashcroft and I think
everyone was pissed off that him and Noel didn't get to play, altho' I wouldn't
go as far as calling the stage guy a w**ker, he's just doing his job! Moby was
mad and excellent- great atmosphere. "thank-you, thank-you, thank-you,
thank-you....(impression of Moby)" Others = MJ Cole - great. Sasha -
euphoric. Hybrid-dissapointing. Anyway, best Act right? mmmmm,

The organisation is already excellent, that is little queueing be it car parking
or getting drinks etc. VERY WELL DONE AND THANK YOU. I cant understand how
people had to queue and miss bands. We arrived late and got straight in and
missed nothing....However more consideration needs to be given to which bands
play in the tents. Moloko for example had far to big a following to JJB a fact
that anyone who knows anything should have realised. Putting Cypress Hill on
Vstage and Moloko in the tent seemed back to front to say the least. To those
who winged about having to wait and missing bands you are talking total crap we
walked straight in. Weller and Gallagher should have been allowed to play.

A better map and more up to date instructions. I arranged to meet my
friends at the telephone boxes. Of course there weren't any, but I asked
about 15 stewards and most of just said they didn't know where they were.
Two looked at a map and concluded that the phones were on exactly opposite sides
of the site to each other! I couldn't get out of the site to use the
phones outside, since I was a daytripper and came across a real witch of a
steward-so how is a daytripper supposed to get access to a phone, unless you do
as I did and bribed people for use of their mobiles? (not that the vodaphone
network worked properly, but that's a different issue.)
Another gripe I had was that there was no information whatsoever given out
saying we had to go to gate 1. We thought we could go in at gate 7 (since
daytrippers just handed their tickets in, I don't see why we had to walk to the
opposite end of the drop off point, and to the meeting location. Also,
having the guest list queue next to the main entrance confused everyone.
Lastly, it would have been very useful if an extra tram to Birmingham had been
laid on late. I decided that going back to Leeds was not feasible, but was
surprised that after midinight we had to get a taxi back to Birmingham.
That's all my gripes for now. I think I felt all these problems all the
more keenly because I was a daytripper and wasted 30-40% of my time there just
looking for my friends with no map to help me.

Organisation was atrocious. A 40 minute hike from the carpark to the camp loaded
down with camping gear and beer was horrendous. Wasn't impressed to pay
for parking on top of a camping ticket. Also not impressed that the only way to
find out what was on where was to pay for a programme. Not enough people were
selling the dogtags so had to fork out £6 for a programme just for the times.
Security were thick as 2 short planks. Should be able to take water into the
arena. Outrageous and I think a denial of human rights to take water off someone
(me) and throw it away. Organisation again was atrocious upon leaving.
Stuck in carpark for 1 1/2 hours because theyd put some little wanker on the

pulp, blur, gene
organisation on the first day - we queued for an hour and a half to get into the
site, most of the time I think we were in the wrong queue, no-one told us that
we could go and get wristbands first or where we should be, none of the staff
seemed to know what was going on either - "shambles" is a good word
for it. I've been to V since 1996 and this was the worst year for getting
in - we missed the first bands as a result.
Also, make sure that the times are correct on the plastic passes - the MTV stage
was running about 40mins early according to that (but no according to the pull
out from the programme, funnily enough)- hence some people (luckily not us)
would have missed people they wanted to see. Bit bad considering they cost
four quid...

band, but I have to admit, *3* naked men in the space of 10 minutes? It's gotta
be a record...And hearing the only chant of "we want more" going to
them.

More heavier rock bands - the crowd's reaction to "A" (V99), Cypress
Hill, and Bloodhound Gang (V2000) should prove there is room for this.
More toilets for the campsites - ours was miles away so we pissed in cups insted!

Groove Armada on a bigger stage please. Chemical Brothers, Moby without
clashing with anyone decent.
Apart from maybe staying alive a bit later than 11, nothing. It rocked this
year.

All of it - but the plug should not have been pulled on Paul Weller

V2001 - larger dance tents or put bigger acts on open air stage - ie Groove
Armada. Screens on the MTV stage as half the time we were so far back it
was like watching ants on the stage. weekend wristband exchange was in a stupid
place - we got the bus from Chelmsford station and had to trek right round one
of the campsites to gate 2 before we could even get in, surely it would be
better to have a wristband exchange on each exit.

I'd quite like to see some bands/artists who have been around for years and
years - have a bit of a retro thing going on. I really enjoyed James Brown
at V98 & 99 and I'd love to see someone like George Clinton.
It was much better this year, in terms of more rubbish bins, cleaner toilets and
the fact that the rubbish was actually collected, and the arena cleaned
overnight. This does make a huge difference. More security would be
an improvement, for example several people had wallets, mobile phones etc
stolen. And is it really necessary for people to shout
"bollocks" in the middle of the night? It may be a festival
"tradition" but I don't cope very well with sleep deprivation!

Travis singing Britney Spears. Moby's finalé/light show (fantastic!).

Faithless, Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Eminen, Basement Jax
Do not have Tents like the JJB Arena, they don't hold enough people and get far
too hot. Open Air Stages are best. I missed Moloko and Groove Armada because the
queues were just ridiculous!
The Campsite toilets could be improved. - cleaned or swopped for new ones on
Saturday.
