The Great hall was divided into an upper and lower floor. Visible in the far wall is the entrance to a spiral staircase located on the upper floor. Look closely at the wall just to the right of the window on the left and a distinctive herringbone pattern can be seen. It is characteristic of stone work from the era.
Looking towards the Great hall from inside the Castle:
The Great Hall is located to the right of the Tower at the extreme right. A small chapel and storage rooms were located to the left of the tower. The remains are visible centre left. One of the store rooms is shown below:
In the Chapel the remains of niches can be seen wherein statues would have been placed. The following image also reveals the rich colour and texture of the ancient stone work:
