Castle View is a non commercial web site about Richmond, Swaledale, the North Yorkshire Dales and much more. If you are interested in knowing more about the town and the surrounding area in terms of its rich history, legends, culture, commerce, art and links to other regions and areas of the world then Castle View can help.

By its nature Castle View can never be complete but it continues to grow and currently (May 2000) extends to more than 500 files including 148 pages and 300 graphic images. There are 16 Java programmes and 30 www links.

Why is it here? Well Castle View is a combination of hobbies: an interest in Richmond, computers and the Web. A previous site contained some references to Richmond and a number of people expressed an interest in knowing more. So here it is.

I hope that what it contains is reasonably accurate but read it and believe it at your peril! If there are any inaccuracies that you feel should be corrected please let me know. Alternatively if you want to contribute any material then I should be pleased to hear from you.

Oh by the way this site is best viewed with Internet Explorer in full screen mode. There are clickable bits here and there so let your mouse go for a walk on images and stuff.

The site is copyright however you are free to use it on non commercial sites providing that you credit the author (me or others if I have used their material) and provide a link from your site to this. If you do not have a web site and are using this for personal research I should be pleased for you to use the material but would ask that you credit the source. Thank you.
