How can
I find teleworkers to interview?
Researchers are often asked to provide the names of people they have interviewed
to journalists or to other researchers. It is a breach of professional
ethics (and, very often, data protection legislation) to provide such details
unless the respondents have explicitly given their permission in advance.
So don't waste your time coming to us for names. Do your own research.
It isn't difficult.
Random door-knocking would probably throw you up a sample in the course
of a morning.
Freelance teleworkers can often be found through the Yellow Pages
or specialist directories or agencies, because they are anxious to publicise
their services. Following up advertisements or asking around (e.g. in your
local photocopy shop) will also quickly find you people who do word processing
from home.
If you want to catch people who sometimes commute into the office and
sometimes don't, why not try asking questions at a suburban railway station
at 7.15 a.m.?
There are lots of other ways, e.g. readership surveys of magazines,
appeals on the radio, hardware or software user surveys etc.
Good Luck!
