Accreditation

The Council is happy to consider applications from Universities or other degree-awarding bodies.

In such cases, in addition to its normal accreditation requirements, the Council will require an initial submission which establishes:

  • that the organisation has Chartered or equivalent national status, regardless of the qualifications it offers, if it chooses to call itself a University;
  • how any degrees offered are validated by the appropriate national authority;
  • whether those national validating mechanisms have international credibility;
  • if degree courses are offered which obtain their ultimate validation by being the degrees of another, properly accredited university, this is clear in all publicity, and the organisation offering such courses does not call itself a university unless entitled to do so under a) above.

If the organisation is based overseas, the initial submission should also set out the relevant legal and quality control frameworks in the country in which the provider is registered, or from which it operates.
