Moulton, Northamptonshire

Moulton is about 4 miles from Northampton. It, too, has been taken over by the expansion of the town although it still retains its village identity.   It is thought that the village has its origins in Saxon times, although the main features of the present church are Norman or later.
The village is also famous for one of its inhabitants, William Carey, who went there in 1785 to start a school, as well as continue his trade as a cobbler and preach.  His cottage may still be seen, adjacent to the Baptist Church which now bears his name.  In 1792 he was a founder member of the Baptist Missionary Society.
