Fotheringhay has a number of important historical associations, the
most notable being that the Castle (pulled down in 1627) was the scene
of the execution of Mary, Queen of Scots. The church, which dominates the
surrounding landscape dates back to 1485 and was at its foundation a collegiate
church.
