What's New?
10.i.2004 When, back in 2002, I wrote "bear with me", I didn't expect it to take this long to get everything sorted out. I have actually done a lot of stuff on the site, but I haven't been updating this "What's New" section. One New Year's resolution is to keep updating it. So, I've kept that resolution for almost a week: this is the first new posting.
I've restarted the abortive model railway project that fell by the wayside at about the same time as updating this section. I'm now building a mockup of “Cuddle” in Gn15, and the story starts here.
But, lest you think the only other stuff I've done is to reformat a few pages, The "visits" section now sports some more details on Walsingham and on Mechelen, plus, for contrast, a short description of the Arundel Carpet of Flowers. Okay, the Walsingham stuff isn't completed as yet, but it'll be the next to be done.
Then there's a new circular walk around Winchester and St Catherine's Hill, as well as some (again incomplete) material about the wall paintings in the Lady Chapel of the Cathedral, and some more descriptions of various wells.
But in all, I have actually spent most of the time revamping the site. Now with the advent of cascading stylesheets the task hopefully won't take so long next time, but meantime it's a bit of a nightmare, particularly since I don't have php on this server.
01.iv.2002 Bear with me. Since I started my own firm, I've decided that now is a good time to rework the site. I have some content to put up as well, so there's most likely going to be chaos over the next few weeks.
The site is actually far larger than many commercial sites I've worked on, which has put me off the task in the past, but I need to tackle it now. I'm going to be doing a few pages at a time, partly to allow me to put up new material, but partly because I have many new work commitments as well.
I'm going to document the decisions I make for rework, as the work progresses, on part of my firm's site. So, if you want to keep track of the progress, come and have a look.
As always, if one tackles a task of this size piecemeal, there will occasionally be times when there are broken links. Please let me know if you find any.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
Trev, I've put the pumpkin up here.
