Our Mission

To present a means by which antivirus people can quickly alert others in the industry to an ongoing "crisis".

A "crisis" is defined as one that, in the estimation and experience of the antivirus professional involved, concerns a malware threat in the wild that he feels is of utmost importance, and that all antivirus product producers should offer immediate defense against that threat. A replicated virus sample or a copy of the non-replicating malware should then be sent to the Distribution List; a message and discussion should ensue on the Discussion List. The sender should relay the necessary information for others to understand the scope of the situation.

The Discussion List may also be used by its participants to query the other participants of other situations, or to compare notes to better judge the scope of other situations. But only threats of the most serious import are to be sent through the Distribution List.
