CHRIS JAMES
Chris has been fascinated by music from an early age and after being taught to play the guitar by a fellow country music musician, ended up playing with his own 6 piece band on the cabaret circuit. After 16 years, he gave up the cabaret scene and went back to his country roots spending the next couple of years slowly building a reputation on the circuit, playing regularly at Brean Country Week.
Then in November 2004 he had the news that changed his life drastically. He found a lump in his throat and having gone to the hospital for a biopsy was given the news that he had cancer. Within 2 weeks he had a seven hour operation to remove the tumour. The operation went well with his speaking voice only slightly affected but he was devastated to learn from the surgeon that it was about an 80% chance that the singing voice might alter or worse never return.
Chris went through 3 years of radiotherapy and in October 2008 he was given the news that the cancer was all clear.
He decided that 2009 was the year to start pushing again. So far it has been a great year for him.
