From an early age, Richard showed an interest in music by learning to play a keyboard bought as a present when he was just 4 years of age. At school, he learned to play recorder and then violin and guitar following this with singing lessons. At age 10, he joined some local acting groups and took part in productions at many local venues.
In 1998, his grandfather lent him some cassettes of country music. He instantly took a liking and soon found himself going to his first ever country music show at a local club in Scunthorpe.
After this visit, he decided to try to sing some of the songs he had heard there and accompanying himself on guitar had soon learnt his first country song “Will the circle be unbroken”
Learning this first song set the ball rolling and Richard became a big fan of country music, buying cassettes and CD’s of artistes such as Merle Haggard, Garth Brooks and Chris LeDoux. In the meantime he decided to learn a new instrument - the harmonica.
In the summer of 2001, Richard wrote his first country song “Whole life in a shoebox” which was to become the title track of his first CD.
In July 2002 he took his first booking as a country music artiste. Since then he has performed at many other pubs, clubs, festivals and camps and continues to grow in both popularity and fame.
