Alan, along with his two elder brothers, attended RSM classical piano lessons from the age of seven. Whilst at junior school, he heard the music teacher playing Boogie-woogie on the piano and was soon hooked on Rock ‘n’ Roll.. School concerts gave him his first stage debut. By the age of ten, Alan felt the need to learn rhythm guitar and soon became a natural, singing along with innocence still in his voice. On reaching his teens he won a scholarship to The Trinity School of Music and continued to study both piano and classical guitar, taking every opportunity to sneak the boogie-woogie in whenever possible.
A country singer ideally suited to Line Dance audiences as he keeps up to date with the latest numbers. He has a unique voice, a wicked sense of humour and an infectious giggle.
In 1991, Alan became hooked on Country music when Gary & Sue Farminer invited him to join the newly formed Stone Mountain Country Band. This group of five spent many a happy year, playing mainly to the Country Music Line Dancing scene. Alan has a warm friendly personality with an infectious laugh.
He gains immense pleasure from performing to the Line Dancing fraternity with his up tempo Rock ‘n’ Roll style of Country Music, having the ability to put real emotion into the ballads, as well as enjoying gigging to the Social Club circuit with his own blend of 50’s & 60’s music.
At 16, along with two other guys he formed his first band called ‘Avalanche’ where he gained his first experience of playing Rock ‘n’ Roll music in pubs and clubs.
At age 18, he decided to go solo and entered the cabaret circuit. His sense of humour helped when he incorporated impressions into his act, Frank Spencer, Benny Hill, George Formby and Norman Wisdom, to mention a few. This kind of entertainment was greatly loved back in the early 80’s. He entered talent contests and show cases. On one occasion in Wokingham he was in competition with an up and coming Bobby Davro.
