DOUGLAS DRAMA GROUP FIND PERFECT PITCH – PLAY ON

For only the second time in the Drama Group’s 45 year history, we took a stall at the Village Show in July. Two years ago, at the stall, we recruited only one new member (but a good ‘un). This year we managed another five! For a group our size, that increases our strength by about 40%. And we reckon that with that sort of growth, in a few years all the village will be members!  We had a great day, lots of people browsed our stall, looking at the archive of photos, past programmes and newspaper cuttings, as well as chatting to members of the group. The day was made even better by the fact that our pitch, at the Jubilee Garden, was right opposite Jim’s house and so we had a constant supply of bacon butties and mugs of tea.

Following that success, we held two rehearsal workshops during the summer to allow our new members to see how the group works – again these were a great success.  Lots of people who came to our stall asked if there was a drama group for youngsters in the village. Looks like there’s a gap for a junior drama group – any takers?

So, what’s new then? Well, rehearsals for this NOVEMBER’S PRODUCTION have started.

We are performing “CAUGHT ON THE HOP” a COMEDY by the late Derek Benfield.

The performance dates are 25, 27 & 28 NOVEMBER at the PWI Hall. More details will appear in next month’s (and subsequent) Newsletters. So, if you are interested in getting involved or just want to find out more about us, just collar any member of the Group or ring Sandra on 462430 or Alan on 464426
