Submitting material to The Melocactus Site
THE RULES
Photographs All photographs must be of cacti of the genus Melocactus. Photograph files must be in GIF or JPEG format and be of a maximum size of 50K. Photographs must be accompanied by a short description (species when known, date of photograph, comment etc.). Photographs of species of which identification is doubtful, or that you would like others to identify, are especially welcome. If you are submitting photographs for identification, it is helpful to include close-ups of flowers, fruit, spine structure and arrangement as well as a photograph of the whole plant with an indication of size. There will be a maximum number of images displayed at this site at any one time, the earliest ones dropping off when this maximum is reached. I will try to keep images available for one month.
Articles, papers, notes, observations If you are submitting articles or papers, try to following normal good editorial practice and write in a clear, concise way. Include references where appropriate. I will undertake minimal editing. Don't forget to italicise genus and species names. If you wish to include photographs or other illustration, these can be included in the photographic section of this site. The nominal maximum length of articles or papers is 1500 words. This might be increased in special cases. If you are submitting notes, observations or responses to others' submissions, please keep your comments short and succinct.
How to submit Send text material via email to georgethomson@dial.pipex.com, not forgetting to include your name and email address. Short notes and observations can be included as part of the email proper, longer text should be sent as an attachment in plain text, RTF or MS Word format. Photographs should be sent as attachments in one of the acceptable formats.
Important note The decision to include material on this site and where it will appear is entirely at my discretion. I reserve the right to make editorial changes to submitted material but any changes that affect the actual content will be discussed with the submitter in advance.
